Vlad Tepes - the Impaler - Vlad Draculea the romanian prince...
He was borned in Sighisoara city in the province called Transilvania. If you go to Sighisoara you can still see the house where he lived
with his family (see als the photo):
He was the son of Vlad II Dracul. He was married 3 times and had a total of 5 children. He was the ruller of Walachia (Tara Romaneasca)
in 3 periods: august 1448 - october 1448, august 1455 - december 1462, december 1476. During his times, Tara Romaneasca became independent of
the Otoman Empire.
He was well known for his cruelty as he impaled 41 people and burned alived over 300. But methods were used by all the rulers of those times.
He was also called Draculea (the devil) by the villagers because he was a member of the Dragon Order, which had as a symbol a dragon (that looked similar to a devil).
And there for, he is believed to have insipred the book of Bram Stoker, "Dracula", and from here the Dracula movie.
He is also wellknown for his ambition of restoring order and honesty. So, in his times, in the central market from Targoviste there was a golden cup
that people could use for drinking water. No one had the courage to steal the golden cup during his reign as they knew that punishment woul have been
hard to endure.
Vlad Tepes was assasinated in december 1976 and his body was beheaded and taken to the Sultans, that impaled it as a proof of his vicotyr against the romanian ruller.
The book of Bram Stoker, "Dracula", is not based directly on Vlad Tepes life and reign. The character Dracula is pure fictional.
